Vintage Seiko Champion Calendar 860 1964

Vintage Seiko Champion Calendar 860 1964

This Seiko Champion Calendar 860 is a 1960s manual wind Seiko which was part of the Champion range introduced in the early 1960s. This is the Champion Cal. 7622 represents the series' later models and exclusively features a calendar (date) function. It was produced from 1964 to 1966, it is powered by a 17-jewel Seikosha Diashock manual movement operating at 18,000 bph, with a "quick date-change" function activated by moving the hands between 9 PM and midnight. These models were only produced for theĀ JDM (Japanese Domestic Market Model).Ā  Not really what we can quick-set nowadays ;-)

The Seiko Champion 860 Calendar is a refined entry-level 1960s dress watch with a stainless steel-plated case, slim bezel, silver sunburst dial, sharp stick indices, dauphine hands, and a framed date window.Ā

This example is in great original condition and still has the genuine "S" signed crown. Mechanically the watch is perfect, +6/s day abbreviation, good amplitude. Service history is unknown, but with these numbers doesn't seem currently necessary. The dial has some water damage around the edges (which is not very visible, it has a slightly darker tone if you look at it from certain angles).

Its definetly not every day I come across these old Seiko Champion's in this condition - hence the price. This is your chance to pick one up. It is cleaned and has a new bambi leather strap.Ā
