Military Issued Hamilton GG-W-113 Field Watch Mechanical 1985

Military Issued Hamilton GG-W-113 Field Watch Mechanical 1985

When I received this watch I immediately wore it the next day to the office, and one of my colleagues noticed and said: "That's a nice watch, looks a bit like a pilot watch!" on which I replied "It actually IS a Pilot Watch!"

Military issued watches are normally not my expertise, but I was able to purchase this from a well-known collector of issued watches that is clearing out his collection.

This classic Mechanical Hamilton watch is made to the "MIL-W-3818B" specification, established by the U.S. government in the early 1960s, which laid the foundation for what we now recognize as the field watch. This model beautifully captures the essence of that timeless design.

With an unbranded, matte black dial and crisp markings that slightly faded, the watch is engineered for maximum readability, even in tough conditions. Tritium lume is applied to the outer hour markers and hands, which has aged to a rich, creamy yellow-orange, adding a touch of vintage charm.

Hamilton continues to draw inspiration from this iconic design in their modern Khaki Field collection - and many other field watch models and brands are based on this exact watch.

Inside is mechanical Hamilton, manually-wound, caliber 685 based on a ETA movement.

This particular piece is in mint condition, almost unworn, and comes with a US military black strap as well as a brown-leather NATO. It was manufactured in May 1985, which makes it a later-issued Hamilton GG-W-113 with closed fixed lugs. - this means you can not remove the spring bars to swap straps either.

There is minor scuffs on the crystal, which i purposefully not polished.

Considering there is quite some (bad) fakes and replica's of this model around - this is your chance to purchase a fully genuine, great condition Hamilton GG-W-113.
