Vintage Seiko QR 3862-7020 1974 JDM Watch

Vintage Seiko QR 3862-7020 1974 JDM Watch

This might look just like any other vintage Seiko on first glace, but this Vintage Seiko QR was a high-quality quartz watch produced between 1971-1975 for the Japanese Market (JDM) and equivalent to the SQ2002 model.

This is evident in the relatively heavy and well-finished case with polished sides and a brushed side, along with the majestic 3862 Quartz Caliber featuring ±20 seconds/month - which was an accomplishment in 1971! It also runs at  16,384 Hz - which is half of the modern standard of 32.768.

The white-silver dial is stunning with a sunburst effect, featuring the embossed "single quartz" logo and the iconic Suwa swirl at 6 o'clock. The mirrored chapter ring enhances the sunburst effect and adds a beautiful sparkle to the dial. A beautiful piece in good condition for it's age.

I've placed a fresh battery, the watch runs and quickset works. It's paired with a vintage japanese mesh bracelet that can be adjusted.

In 1975, the reference number was 38QRC with a price tag of 42,000 yen, a significant amount compared to mechanical watches of that time.

To compare, a 56GS like the 56GAW was 47,000 - just a small difference. How the tides have turned!
